Recyclable toys are an easy answer to reducing the waste problem our land and oceans are facing. In Australia, only 13% of plastic is recovered and 84% is sent to landfill and around 130,000 tonnes of the plastic we consume, leaks into the environment each year (cleanup.org.au). It is predicted, by 2025 99% of seabirds worldwide will have ingested plastic. Not only do our favourite plastic toys end up in landfill and waterways, they are also toxic to our health during the manufacturing process. We can positively shift the waste scale with a more considered and conscious effort by simply recycling.
